1M Lights aims to push the boundaries of computer-generated, DMX-controlled lighting from pre-visualisation into full production.
Our mission is to create DMX-controllable lighting fixtures for Unreal Engine capable of maintaining apparent realism up to one metre away from the fixture, while staying performant with large quantites.
We achieve this by tailoring a unique approach to every single light instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all solution.
1M Lights can be used for:
Pre-visualization
- Program with highly accurate fixtures that pack a punch similar to real-world units.
- Create your own fixtures that don’t yet exist using our creation system and free training.
Virtual Production
- Seamlessly blend a real lighting rig with a virtual one for live shows by rendering lights to an LED wall behind the stage.
- Green-screen a lighting rig behind performers to gain full control without purchasing physical fixtures.
Game Development
- With our editable Blueprints, any light can be turned into a standalone asset and packaged directly into a game that needs lighting fixtures.
1M Lights is a system five years in the making—revised countless times—to build lights in Unreal Engine without time spent muddling in the dark, and we prioritise sharing our process.
While we can’t offer the product itself for free, we can offer free education so you can recreate what we’ve built.
