Controlling These Assets
Most of these assets are controlled through the Details panel, using variables. You can typically find this on the right side of the screen, in a window called Details.
Video Wall
The Video Wall is meant to quickly be built, and video mapped, in Unreal Engine.
Simply drag it from the Content Browser and place it in the world. It contains a few inputs you need to use.
Inputs
- Rigging Method: Choose between hung, floor support ladders, or floor support truss. Currently, only hung and floor support ladders are built.
- Texture: The displayed texture. You can drag and drop any PNG image into the Content Browser to import a texture, and then drag that texture from the Content Browser onto the Texture variable in the Video Wall. Alternatively, import your texture, then press the dropdown arrow on the Texture variable and type in the name of your texture.
- Tile Dimension X / Y: The size, in feet, of each video tile.
- Number of Tiles X / Y: The number of tiles, horizontal and vertical, that make up the video wall.
- X / Y Start: Used for video mapping. The percentage of the texture that begins being displayed on the video wall. If 0, the texture displays from the beginning of the texture. If .25, the texture cuts off the first 25% of the texture.
- X / Y End: Used for video mapping. The percentage of the texture at which the displayed portion ends. If 1, the texture displays all the way to its end. If .75, the texture cuts off the last 25% of the texture.
- Remove Top Row of Braces: Used only for the ladder support system. Occasionally, the braces that hold the video wall to the frame will be spawned above the actual video wall. Enabling this variable will remove this top row.
- Maximum Vertical Overhang: The maximum amount of video wall that can be extended vertically before adding a new ladder section. A high number will mean the ladder system stays quite a bit below the top of the wall — contextually appropriate for ballrooms. A low number may mean the ladder overextends the video wall by a bit — contextually appropriate for outdoor shows.
Disclaimer: This asset is meant to recreate a video wall in 3D quickly. It is not meant to serve as a structural diagram, or be interpreted for any real-world application of a video wall structure. It is for mockup rendering purposes only.
